the mishmash stool collection has been created as part of jeongmin yu’s final year project at hongkik university

the hongik university final project is a reflection of jeongmin yu’s personal emotions, especially unfinished ones experienced during his youth. from anger, embarrassment, fright, highs and lows, these emotions are repetitive and disordered — moving around irregularly like a stirred ant’s nest. therefore, he has extracted those momentary mishmashed feelings and incorporated them in each stool through elements of repetition and rhythm.

the resulting textures reflect the designer’s personal emotions which are repetitive, disordered and ‘mishmashed’

the work began from small and basic cylindrical shapes of stools, giving each one a distinct texture to maximize the emotions reflected on each design. therefore, with a diversity of patterns, viewers can experience a wide range of emotional impressions. finally, the resulting organic textures imprinted unto each stool are created by repeatedly squeezing and hardening hot-melt, a commonly used material.
