‘teatro verdun’, located in beirut, lebanon has received a lobby makeover by joseph barakat architects. a cultural venue that hosts a range of local and international talent, the project is conceived as a stylish hangout where patrons can relax before, during, and after performances. the design draws largely from art deco, with a particular taste for the opulent and glamorous. geometric shapes and prints are cut from marble, and fashioned out of brass and steel. oversized art nouveau murals and custom light installations recreate the short lived epoch where culture, technology, and luxury coalesced into one.
