the ‘villa bougainville‘ is an exotic boutique hotel located in the city of centre of nice, the capital of the french riviera. led by virginie coste and arnaud butin, architecture and interior design firm l’atelier has transformed the internal space into a traveller’s paradise. using the french admiral and explorer louis antoine de bougainville as a muse, l’atelier set upon converting each room into a unique territory in which to be discovered.

l’atelier playfully mixes vintage prints, treasure trove chests along with modern elements to spark a bold and contrasting flare. along the walls of the lounge area, detailed studies of framed exotic bird prints are placed carefully, creating a unique and extravagant centre piece. three overhanging plant like chandeliers hang over head, highlighted by a pink grapefruit coloured hue, expelling a warm ambience upon the seating area below.

glass bottles and peculiar statues are placed on the window sills, shelves and on the floor creating a laboratory feel to the hotel. the bedrooms are adorned with palm trees in various shades, forming a vibrant jungle like scene. each element is tastefully considered, contrasting daring features against complimentary elements that establishes a comfortable and relaxing stay for travelling guests.

l’atelier has translated many cultural references to create an interior that reflects the curious spirit that exists in every traveler or guest. no space is left unconsidered, every nook and cranny is left to be discovered, each space leaves one to explore and to dream, to reflect and to delve further into more than just an experience but an adventure.
