wanting to do something unconventional but deeply rooted in the swimming world, spanish firm lagranja has designed and manufactured medals, gadgets and podiums for the 2013 swimming world championships in barcelona. the idea for the unique award paraphernalia came from the commonly used silicon strap on swimming goggles. the technological properties of the material enabled it to hang in a completely different way — making the object look like it’s come straight from the pool. a commemorative medal was also created — it follows the same principle, but the thick gold, silver or bronze coin was substituted for a light metal ring.
