‘vader’ lamp by luca nichetto for david design

the italy and sweden-based design studio of luca nichetto has collaborated with swedish brand david design on the ‘vader’ lamp. presented at the 2012 stockholm furniture and light fair, the lighting piece is a result of researching different ways of producing ceramics from small production handmade quantities to highly engineered industrial manufacturing. the color range in which the table lamps are available consider the scandinavian origins of the company by which they are produced, while reminding us of nichetto’s venetian background. ‘vader’ presents the transposition of multiple layers, tri-dimensional glass effects lying on a large ceramic volume, cut in the middle and compressed on the sides. this compression creates two wide fissures in the material and allows the light to emerge from the inside of the cut bulb.
