spanish street art collective luzinterruptus‘ latest installation considers the yellow balls on scaffolding joints – which are put in place to avoid accidents – as a means for some artistic intervention.

they were walking through one of the most commercial areas of madrid, calle preciados, when their attention was drawn to the boldly colored objects. there were so many of them installed on the gigantic, metal structure that they had the urge to stay and investigate the bulbous forms that people were continuously walking by.

the team decided to make these mundane components into something more noticeable to the public, making people aware of these insignificant, common objects, and what they brought to the aspect of a street under construction. entitled ‘urban nests’, luzinterruptus, populated the balls with 130 colored birds, that they left looking into the street from their ‘makeshift’ homes on the scaffolding. they also provided light around them, to achieve a warm atmosphere throughout the scaffolded area, inviting one to remain and contemplate such an unusual habitat.
