drawing reference from the ‘mobius strip’ parametric equation, ‘ribbon’, the 3D printed metal accessory set by designer hao-chun huang includes ‘infinity’, a letter opener and ‘swirl’ a pair of scissors. made out of one single continuous metallic ribbon measuring less than 1 mm thick, ‘infinity’ is presented as a fully functional piece of surrealist sculpture. the scissors integrate surfaces that reflect neutral contours found in a DNA helix with an ergonomic gesture. the curved handles prop up the scissors naturally, assisting the user so that the clippers can easily be picked from any surface.
