lisbon-based designer marco sousa santos of branca-lisboa has created ‘shell’, a lounge chair composed of exposed plywood.
an array of wooden pieces disperse into a cocoon shape, supported by a organically emerging legs.
the ribs are intended to hold pillows and cushion which would adjust to any body shape while allowing each
user to personalize their own small sanctuary.

after the wisa birch plywood is digitally cut, each piece is hand assembled by an old portuguese artisan
by the name of mr. castro. a collaboration between nature and technology, the chair incorporates both modern
and traditional techniques.
