jean blanchaert gallery presents the work of mauro martinuzzi on the occasion of milan design week 2013. the italian artist’s ‘framed’ series of hand-blown glass sculptures were produced in veneto, and are an expression of the traditional craft process, being applied to produce contemporary objects. combing the hand blown glass of murano with the handmade ceramic of nove, the exhibition will offer a photo and video documentation of the techniques used to create the pieces. collectively, ‘framed’ represents a challenge between a digitally controlled shape, the image of our contemporary design world, and the natural uncontrolled birth of free glass-blowing.
