these ‘swirling stools’ by south-korean company metafaux design, are created using a traditional dying technique known as ‘marbling’. the ‘tie-dye’ process, which is normally applied to 2D paper or fabrics, gives the 3D objects a unique, blended pattern. each product has an individual appearance with imperfections, such as smudges or wrong color combinations left visible – displaying a random sense of beauty. the stools are a direct reflection of the process used to create them, offering a distinct perspective on the beauty of such unexpected outcomes.
