developed as part of the collaboration between danish design company OEO and 'japan handmade',
the collection features an evolution of traditionally crafted objects - securing the future generation of
japanese craftsmanship.
presented at the 2013 maison et objet, artisan group kanaami-tsuji featured their metal-knitted
kitchen utensils, alongside a library chair designed by danish architect børge mogensen. using
techniques dating back over 1000 years ago, the series of objects utilize hand-weaves - such as
kiku-dashi (chrysanthemum pattern) and kikko-ami (tortoise shell netting) that are traditionally
used for tofu servers and tea strainers, to create poetic and graphically decorative patterns for
functional houseware.
