michael anastassiades mobile kinetic lights

designer michael anastassiades aims to design objects which are minimal and utilitarian, almost mundane. his kinetic lights are constructed following the principles of a mobile, arrangements of linear tubes, geometric sources of light, reflective surfaces and counterbalancing weights.

the components of each light rotate freely, changing the lighting configuration. some lights even have motors which rotate the entire structure or individual elements of the piece. one has a pendulum with a glass ball which sways side to side, another has various parts which rotate around the unit’s main vertical axis.  each is made from black patinated brass.

anastassiades kinetic lights will be exhibited at 1-4 exhibition road, london, from october 14th – 21st, 2009.
