defining the separate areas of the hotel room with a ‘graceful dance of shower curtains’, japanese mifune design studio has installed three flexible partitions as walls. located in the boutique ‘hotel t’point’ in osaka city, osaka, japan, the design enables guests to frame the interior functions themselves. the stripped-back environment consists of a bed, shower and toilet, which are placed closed to one another, in order to highlight the necessity of them being concealed. decorative elements have been intentionally removed, allowing the act of moving the curtains around the space to become a spatial dance for guests to perform.

the only difference in the layout of the separate functions can be seen around the shower, where the floor has a slight inclination. curtains are often used to contain splashing water, but the flowing material has many other applications, and their movement here becomes the sole decoration in the room.
