design studio tale, of seoul, south korea, has created ‘moon glass’. the interactive project is one in which the user must fill and drain the ceramic glasses in order to display several phases of the moon, contingent upon the surface level of the liquid in the chalice. tale has formed the series in a manner which, from the exterior, appears to have an equal depth throughout the surface area of each cup’s interior. however, as the surface level of the contained liquid decreases, a swell crafted upon one portion of the area inside the ceramic piece becomes exposed. because the beverage is contained to one side of the tumbler with a gradual rejoining to the floor of the glass, the liquid’s shape wanes in a manner similar to that of the fading moon.

the cup has been formed in both black and white with two capacities for volume. one measuring 170ml and the other at 80ml. the smaller size measures 82mm x 82mm x 58mm with the larger glass having the dimensions of 112mm x 112mm x 68mm.
