the gently curving seating object ‘blocco’ is the work of japanese industrial designer naoto fukasawa for italian manufacturer plank. appearing to be carved from a single block of ash, the wooden chair has small bends along the back, arms and seat. the form follows a graphic progression, as the lines maintain the quality of a drawing even as a three-dimensional furniture piece. through its proportions, the design retains a deceiving appearance of simplicity. due to the durability of the material, the neutrality of the overall shape and the stack-ability of the form, the chair is suitable for a variety of spaces, whether domestic or public.

‘blocco’ was exhibited at salone del mobile during milan design week 2012.
