revesz + tatangelo construct oak and metal trestle series for mingardo

a collaboration between omri revesz and damian tatangelo has resulted in a family of solid oak and metal tables called ‘the trestle series’ for daniele mingardo‘s limited edition ‘designer | faber’ collection. based on a simple mechanism of symbiosis between trestle and top, the series is constructed from two wooden frames locked in place via pivoting pin. a rigid platform featuring a rounded bend on its edges cradles the frame, holding it in place under tension.

the trestle family

the initial idea for the project was to create objects that exist in the present with dynamic, as opposed to static, qualities. rather than implementing fixed parts and joints, the designers wanted the pieces to be born only from the relationship between their cylindrical supporting components and thin alloy strands. ‘during the process, we aimed to achieve a straightforward design that would fit contemporary conditions; sustainable in terms of production and maximum flexibility in terms of use and end user.’

the tops are available in iron, copper, and brass

the set includes two sizes of timber structures and three sizes of brass, copper, and iron tops that develop three typologies of tables: a console, coffee table, and side table. the console and coffee table surfaces both utilize large frame constructions of 96 cm long, with a top width that defines the height as the furnishings expand and contract during assembly. meanwhile, the side table uses a smaller frame, measuring half the dimension of its relative at 48 cm long. this system of proportions between the collection of furnishings grants various material combinations in terms of colors, grids, plates, and finishes.
