andreu world presents its first-time collaboration with jasper morrison at the 2014 salone del mobile. the ‘ON chair’ has been developed by the british designer, together with the spanish company, as wooden seating for the contract market. available in two base versions, with or without armrests, the collection is made primarily of solid beech wood, with plywood backrests.

the ‘ON chair’ emphasizes innovative carpentry joinery and technology, combining woodworking and components that recall those used in air crafts. this is evidenced in the application of a special joint technique which they have conceived for making the junctures stronger, while creating a much lighter profile. instead of using a standard dowel to connect two parts, a spiraled peg has been developed which resists the possibility of the attached sections from pulling away from each other overtime, while also reducing the number of spigots needed from the normal three to two. the result is a rugged, lightweight and attractive design, with balanced proportions and simple gestures that can be customized through different types of upholstery. the availability of different wood finishes, and a variety of fabrics, makes the ‘ON chair’ suitable for use in both private and public settings.
