resembling astronomical phenomena, ‘kolo’ created by polish designer pani jurek in collaboration with architect piotr musialowski is a cylindrical light that changes its luminosity when touched. the kinetic design works by sliding a magnet over its surface to adjust its intensity to the needs of its user. the tactile object functions like an hour glass, it is filled with sand that responds to its positioning and is also accompanied by a gentle murmuring sound.

when the lamp is moved upside down the granules slowly start to cover the circle so that its brightness begins to fade – to stop this process from happening it can be sloped to the side. the multi-sensory light piece creates a spectrum of different effects and can be used by people who don’t enjoy falling asleep in the dark.
