‘what is the future of furniture?’ this is the fundamental question at the heart of petar zaharinov’s ‘tapeflips‘. with the resurgence of traditional materials, and new ways of manufacturing, what direction will the design of furnishings that decorate our homes move towards in the coming years? in response, the principle of the project is simple. it correlates to the growing density of major cities and the concept of sustainability, as it involves two materials: paperboard panels and tape. by using these ingredients, the system provides countless DIY furniture solutions that are light, strong, and practical. the extruded surfaces have been selected for their flexibility, strength, weight while being adjustable, customizable, and waterproof. by linking these pieces with the adhesive, users become architects as they identify clever ways to handle the structural loads of the object they would like to create.
