the verkadefabriek in hertogenbosch, the netherlands is a cultural centre dedicated to the performing arts, theatre and film.the space requires a certain amount of flexibility to accommodate its range of programs and asked piet hein eek to develop a bench system several metres in length, with double-sided seating for use between the restaurant and café, that could be quickly and easily removed. the dutch designer has conceived a folding bench concept which when extended, lands on its ‘feet’ in an open position, and which can simply be closed and rolled away when not in use.
