‘plumber’s piece’ by netherlands-based studio roex is the result of a series of experiments with leather. drawing influence from rubber membranes as are used in domestic expansion tanks, the ‘pieces’ combine vegetable-tanned leather with flexible rubber units. available in various shapes and sizes, the proportions originate from the underlying object used. seamed ribs, visible on the exterior, give ‘plumber’s piece’ structure integrity so that the vase remains upright and balanced when used.
