‘hop low’ by quarch atelier is made of blown glass, hand-crafted by italian artisans in venice. aside from being available in different colors, and the product also provides the amenity of changing the lamp’s glass shade to fit one’s mood. the sinuous shape is influenced by the little mushroom in walt disney’s ‘fantasia’ which dances to tchaikovsky’s tune alongside its more serious, grown-up companions.

‘the lamp’s simple, humorous design is a gentle reminder not to take us, and the world surrounding us, too seriously,’ the studio says. ‘the soft, but warm glow emanating from the diffuser beckons to us from a quiet world of wonders and tempts us into forgetting – if only for a brief interval – our noisy, hectic lives.’ the concept was realized when top quality furniture producers merotto milani commissioned it for its exclusive design range ‘atanor’, featuring objects and furniture pieces by a selection of italian architects, designers, and other creatives.
