the morfologicos exhibition for casa electrolux curated by waldick jatoba with scenography by atelier marko brajovic presented a new collection by brazilian designer rodrigo almeida for furniture brand meji during design weekend in são paulo, brazil. the installation contextualizes the objects in a topography that mimics the city’s littoral landscape. the natural morphology was scanned digitally through a satellite image which was then downscaled to a low-resolution tridimensional model. using standard styrofoam bricks, the representation was then mapped and modulated in the physical space.

almeida’s collection looks at the industrial aesthetic with a direction focused on an experimental expression of shape and craft. the round stainless steel pieces are contrasted with wood and leather objects to expose the details of the series. the circular tubing is a repeated theme throughout the furniture showcasing the diversity of assembly and application. the production consists of several chairs, lamps, an armchair, stool and decorative mirrors.
