designboom has received images of french designers ronan and erwan bouroullec's complementary pieces to their original 'ovale' collection for alessi,
which designboom covered here, with a 20-bit set of stainless steel cutlery. the flatware was created to accompany the earlier plate and vessel
iterations of 'ovale' with a strong reference to these initial designs through simple, contemporary cues - tying the entire series together.
the form was guided through the avenues of sensual and rustic elements, resulting in subtle curves and accents palpable throughout 'ovale'
after many trials through prototype. the range offers an understated, balanced solution not aimed for particular occasions,
but more as an object able to stand on its own.
the bouroullec brothers comment on their process:
'we had been trying to follow the logic of 'ovale' and decided at the beginning to apply the minimum shape that would be needed to make everything'.
