‘OUI’ by ronan and erwan bouroullec marks the launch of a year long collaboration between kunsthal aarhus and kvadrat, presenting site-situational, content-specific and special exhibitions, that bring some of the world’s leading artists to the central denmark region. set within the park surrounding kunsthal aarhus, ‘OUI’ is a series of four outdoor sitting installations that act as informal meeting points for guests.

the first platform by ronan and erwan bouroullec takes the form of a large ring suited for sitting with a lamp. like a light point or a lighthouse, the large-scale object helps to guide people into a colored cloud. the other two platforms have been installed around a tree. they concretize the dialogue or relationship between nature and the seated people. the last type of platform consists of a large circle with a fireplace in its center, allowing people to huddle around the embers. the idea of taking fire to the heart of the city reminds of gatherings around bonfires. the multi-functional platforms act as large collective benches and provide a place for meeting or relaxing in the middle of the city.

‘ronan and erwan bouroullec’s aesthetic is timeless, cool and elegant, while being innovative in the use of material and space.
