after the ‘liquid kristal’ installation for czech glass and crystal producer lasvit, last year, british designer ross lovegrove has continued to experiment with the material glass, using it as an optical reservoir. the ‘nodules’ are handmade spherical lenses, fused together while being formed to harness the natural physics of the material. intense white light is channeled from a remote fiber optic light to hide the stems of the spheres, making them seem to float in the air like clusters of bubbles. the installation has been featured in the ‘lasvit constellation’ exhibition during milan design week 2013.

the nodules could also be suspended from the ceiling for a similar floating effect
