used as a display table for the ‘ZAKKA: goods & things’ exhibition shop at the 21_21 design sight in tokyo, the ‘sponge table’ hosts a number of miscellaneous products which refer to the japanese term ‘ZAKKA’. designed by schemata architects, this minimal and functional piece of furniture has a table top which is composed of sponge placed between two thin wood veneers. the ‘sponge table’ serves as an efficient tool to be used within the gallery space, as its lightweight surface can easily be lifted off the supporting wooden legs making it both collapsible and portable.
