the practice of applying origami to everyday objects is part of serein‘s sustainable design project ‘dachwood‘, an endeavor influenced by the architecture and history of berlin’s ‘altbau’. the fully handcrafted edition titled ‘origami 9010’ originates from artist yoraco gonzález‘s study of using clear cuts to achieve folds and the reclaimed doors as sheets of paper.

RAL classic 9010 pure white paint and the technique of melted voluminous lacquer unite the edition of 50, while the unique qualities and history of each door make the design of each piece one-of-a-kind. the normative conditions are presented by maintaining the defining characteristics. by doing so, viewers understand the playful manipulation that has been performed. as the vertices bend towards the floor to become supporting legs, the panels and mullions consistently travel across the surface.
