importance and scope of videography in the modern age is almost incomprehensible, millions access video content on a daily basis. whether watching the latest viral video, or sharing and discussing breaking news from the latest international event; one thing is certain, video evidence is hard to argue. odo fioravanti, for TIM mobile italia, has developed ‘shield & share’ a line of products that combines recording technologies with personal protection equipment (PPE). 

a phone works as a monitor, simultaneously recording the welding action 

the purpose if the line is to allow users to record and share workplace experiences, expertise, and if the need should arise, to capture accidents and wrongdoing. designs are efficient and affordable, combining equipment with the mobile technology that most already possess.

a welding mask can embed any mobile phone to function dually as a monitor and recorder. a hard hat is characterized by a clip that allows users to attach mobile devices. from its forehead position, any phone can then be used to record video, audio, or be used as a headlamp. protective ear plugs with bluetooth capability are designed to answer a phone while working without having to disengage from work.

‘shield & share’ also features a pair of overalls with a transparent, protective front hole. from the pocket, workers can record from an almost first-person perspective. lastly, is a rugged bluetooth circuit that’s placed on safety shoes and is capable of monitoring data like activity and labour outputs, which can then be reviewed or shared.

the concepts of ‘shield & share’ mark unprecedented research into workplace protection equipment and the incorporation of technology into existing measures. fioravanti hopes that the designs will provide a frontline look and defense into the world’s tradesmen and workers.
