‘equip’ is a small beauty salon created by japanese architecture and design studio sides core. the owner of the shop is an avid mountain climber, and shared that the most appealing part of his sport is that you never really know what will happen until you get there. every experience is something different — he wanted the same for his clients.

sides core worked closely with the owner to find a small property in a quiet neighborhood where guests would feel welcome and comfortable. the interior has a spacious quality thanks to high ceilings coupled with bare, exposed concrete walls. great time was spent selecting the perfect chair, sound equipment, mirrors and other station details that patrons come into physical contact with. a large work desk and movable wall-mounted storage are meant to adapt over time, allowing ‘equip’ to grow, and change, with each visit
