a workable desk is only as good as the lamp that lights it. lexon asked spalvierdelciotto in 2014 to design an affordable LED light fixture worthy of a great work space. the focal points of ‘yari’ are the thin materials, effortless convenience details, and the functionality to charge other small devices. at a height of 55.2 cm (21.7 inches), the lamp is made of aluminum tubing, and an ABS base with a rubber finish. the italian designers valentina del ciotto and simone spalvieri created joinery that allows the lamp the be turned by 120 degrees so it can be flattened for painless distribution and transportation. there are 30 LEDs that have a two intensity settings and a on/off touch sensor. ’yari’ also combines a USB port to recharge smartphones and other portable devices.
