‘stillness’ is a spatial installation by update studio for an upcoming ceremony for their ocean ball event — which takes place later this year. white, pearl shape balls were selected as materials, which float throughout the space located in the 798 factory district of beijing, china. the contemporary, bright orbs strongly contrast against the industrial materiality of their setting to create an illusionary visual matrix. the feeling of stillness in the installation is palpable. visitors are encouraged to pause for a few moments, and walk peacefully through the exhibits three arranged paths before returning to the chaos of the outside world.
