the perfect hiding place for adults, ‘bar 005’ designed by japanese firm supermaniac inc. (akitoshi imafuku, nobuaki suzuki), is available only to those in the know. at an underground location in osaka japan, there is a small piece of sinage at the entrance ‘005’. the concept came from an imaginary story of a great forest, that spreads out above the bar with the roots of trees breaking through the ceiling above. subtly referencing that this is a healing place away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the sculptures help people envision a forest above. not wanting to express every detail of the idea the designers let the patrons develop an interpretation of the space so that, like the roots, their own fantasy can grow.
