in part one of this two part series, designboom travels to maranello to attend the grand opening of ‘ferrari supercar – tecnica. design. mito’ exhibition at museo ferrari –  taking an exclusive look into the vehicle concept development, 1:1 scale prototypes and study models illustrating the birth of ‘laferrari’. originally unveiled at the 2013 geneva international motor show, the installation recounts the technical contents and the history of style – explaining in detail the path that has been traversed from the 1984 GTO production model – to the first concept and final iteration of the car. preceding the ‘ferrari enzo’ which launched in 2002, the new supercar combines formula one performance and sustainability with ferrari’s first ever hybrid powertrain – a HY-KERS system that delivers 963 horsepower from its V12 engine and its two electric motors.
