‘luminous’ by tokujin yoshioka for glas italia

‘luminous’ is the first collaboration between italian glass furniture manufacturer glas italia and japanese designer tokujin yoshioka. the transparent solid glass table is on show at the salone del mobile during milan design week 2012.

the piece is comprised of several glass planes, combined into a single structure. the irregular geographic forms refract the light and result in a constantly changing appearance. further displaying the possibilities of the material, the legs have a sandblasted gradient, creating a less transparent stand as the light is gradually more diffused. to show the contrast between the two opacities, the bottom of the leg is clear.
