this year was the claska hotel’s first year participating in design tide tokyo. selected designers were invited to design guest rooms for the claska as part of the event, including rie yagura. she presented a collection of furniture designs, focusing on lighting. she takes mundane objects that are significant to her, assembling them in different ways. through her work she integrates aspects of western culture with her native japanese heritage.
