the ‘C2’ motorcycle by new york-based venier customs isn’t for the faint of heart. created with classic café racing aesthetics, it boasts a whopping 1400cc engine that comes from moto guzzi’s brand new california 1400 touring bike. ‘C2’ was created for also new york-based musician and producer andy chase, who was familiarized with venier after the diabola V35C hit the streets.

at the base of the bike is guzzi’s california frame. from there, every component of the bike was prototyped in foam, so that both the design team and chase could look and feel it out. after two months of development, another month was spent fabricating all pieces into final steel body work. other than tarozzi rear set, clip-ons, and a one-off muffler by massmoto, everything on the bike was made by hand in-house; including seat and headlight bucket. the latter is one of ‘C2’s’ prized components, which features the original speedo integrated within it.

after some deliberation, it was decided that the stock ties and brake system be left alone. seeing as the donor bike was already top-of-the-line, there was no need to make more work than necessary. the tail-light was relocated into the back of the seat, and makes a subtle yet impressive appearance. rear signals are mounted on the frame, and in the front, lights by moto-gadget were mounted to the ends of the aluminum billet grips.

the ‘C2’ was destined to have a clean, yet elegant look — this is a café racer after all. everything, even down to the factory screws, was given a coat of gloss black. a single, dark grey stripe is the only exception, which helps accentuate the machine’s curvature. looking forward, venier plans to rework and produce ‘C2’ as a series of limited edition motorcycles. there will be a café version, as well as a GT version that’s slightly more similar to the california’s touring ride position.
