saigon based design studio vo nguyen, have combined simple graphics and cheerful pastel hues for diana ‘do what you love’ music video. tien vo & truc vo acted as both creative director and set designer, by mixing hand made props and materials with a carefully choreographed routine.
the scene takes place in a girl’s bedroom, using everyday objects as creative props within the film. books, guitars, peaches and pillows fly into motion, illustrating the dreams of the singer who performs on the bed. vo nguyen developed six different scenes, which are each highlighted through a specific color palette. pastel hues play an important role in the video, using bursts of contrasting colors to help add a graphic element to the set.
the project which was created in collaboration with may production was completed in just under three days, which meant every last detail had to be perfectly executed. the video uses stop motion – an animation technique that captures a series of individual frames in order to create the illusion of movement. this effect adds a playful DIY aesthetic, using moving props against the actions of the singer, to help illustrate a series of themes within the short clip.
