the series 'while they await extinction' by swedish jewelry designer hanna hedman is based on the forms of endangered animals,
recreating in metal the bodies of animals and plants melded into one another, as though creating new forms of life.
'the jewels are affirmations for the different species,' explains hedman, 'but also a commentary on the responsibility
that we as humans hold. by wearing these jewels we are reminded of this responsibility, [feeling its weight] on our
own bodies in the form of memento jewelery.
'

works are composed of silver, oxidized silver, or powder-coated copper, treated with paint.
