the new seating collection ‘vicka’ for sawaya&moroni uses technogel®

william sawaya discovered THE gel of the latest generation, developed and improved with new and durably high-performance finishes,
giving it a major new application as the distinctive trait in the shape and colour of chairs, sofas and poufs in two different sizes.

the main feature which makes technogel® superior to any other product in the market today is its 3D deformation properties and its shape memory.
when is pressed by the body technogel® moulds itself to each individual’s shape by deforming along all three axes: ‘up-down’,
‘right-left’ and ‘frontward-backward’. normal padding materials tend, on the other hand, to deform only in the ‘up-down’ direction,
causing a considerable accumulation of pressure in the direct contact zones.

in this case, the intentionally graphic and functional steel support structure tends to disappear as a basic structural sign,
so as to bring out the qualities of colour material extended to the entire surface of the seat and backrest,
which flow seamlessly as a continuous element, articulated by a decorative and structural custom pattern with an archetypal,
ancestral flavour.

with this series of furnishings, the designer has created a variety of approaches and figures with the common denominator of an ideal tension
focused on the potential of a continuous surface when it serves as a structural element, providing plastic volume, expressiveness and material substance,
and is capable of generating forms. in this case, diversified furnishings for everyday living.

comparative laboratory tests demonstrate that technogel® cushions gives, after one hour, a pressure reduction of around 20% in average
and of around 60% in peaks, with benefits to blood circulation.

it does not harden or age and keeps its elastic-mechanical properties over a considerable time.
laboratory tests have demonstrated that it is able to withstand more than 300.000 pressure cycles without deformation,
against the 6000 of normal gels.
