andreas nylin / dustBUST fonts I was born on august 26th 1979 in orebro, sweden. I have lived there my whole life even though I have tried to move several times. I am currently studying system and web-development and working as a freelance web designer. --- I have always been interested in design, graphics and illustrating. all the other kids wanted to become police officers, firemans or rock stars, I wanted to become an artist. I got in contact with computers, graphic art and the internet for the first time in senior high school in 1995 when I started to study media. I was immediately hooked and I started making my own web sites. about the same time I got into fonts and tried to make some of my own. I noticed that it was much harder than I thought and it took me lots of time and hard work to come up with something decent. I don't really have any education in design or typography, I have learned everything I know myself. that's the way I prefer to learn and evolve. --- in 1999 I came up with some fonts that I thought was good enough so I started my own freeware font site, dustBUST fonts. you can still download some of these first fonts from my site. I hate them but it's fun to see how much I have learned since I created my first fonts. for every font I make I learn new things. I'm really just doing it to learn and for fun and that's the main reason why my fonts are free. I am working on some commercial fonts that will be released some day. neutron and metropolian are two of them. --- my inspiration comes from music, movies, internet, video games and almost everything that surrounds me. but my biggest source of inspiration is insomnia. for some reason my inspiration seem to be at it's peak late at night or when I haven't slept for long. I have come up with many ideas for fonts when I lay in bed and can't sleep. --- my creative process is different from time to time. sometimes I can plan and work on a concept for days and sometimes I just play around a little with some shapes or colors. sometimes I can create a brand new type face in a few hours but I also have some that I have worked on for more than a year now. --- the first thing I do when I get an idea for a font is to plan all characters. then I make some of them and save the font. I wait a few days before I decide if it's a good idea or not. I often end up hating my own work just a few days after I came up with the idea. if I decide to make something of it i start to make all the letters and the numbers and then the rest of the characters and the kerning.
