lowie vermeersch, jürgen oskamp, wim segers, dirk wynants,
danny venlet, johan van lierde, claire bataille & paul ibens,
maarten van severen)
xavier lust is widely recognized as one of the most talented belgian
designers of his generation.

philosophical approach
'I maintain a physical relationship with the objects,
a subtle and not easily measurable relation, which can sometimes
rise beyond concepts of comfort, solidity, price...
I'm always searching for new methods of production,
to create objects with innovative volumes, objects of accuracy.'

---
minimalist design
'make the simple things simple, and the complex things possible.
my aim is to combine simple elegance and functionality to a timeless form.'

---
cold-formed steel design
'the innovation is an essential data of the authenticity of any creation.
as a specialist in the use of metals, I have developed expertise in
the (de)formation of steel sheets.'

---
see the movie statement
I love working with steel, it is a technic material...

---
decorative surface
'cool and minimal in feel, I prefer the hand polished chrome surface,
it is scratch-resistant and hides fingerprints
- will last for years with minimal maintenance -
but also high-impact colors (red).

---
upholstered furniture
'I want to make the user look as though they were floating on the
upholstered seat.
I often use metallic counterpoints to the soft upholstery.'
