as long as I'm dreaming
'the light is made by simple optical fibre and light
emitted from a light source box passing through
inside of the fiber and came out from the end of
the fibre.
also surface of the end part which is shaped,
light bulb is sand blasted to make the light visible.
in the dark, those lights look like floating in the air.

I always try to create maximum impact with minimum
use of material.
what I wanted to express using the
'as long as I am dreaming' (title of the ligh installationt)
is explore essence of light itself.
in my dream, light is floating in the air without any
cables or supports and also completely and
beautifully free from the gravity.
and the shape of the light bulb is an icon of the light.'

---
at colette's conceptual store in paris
'I didn't want to show it as a product to buy and I didn't
want advertise myself.
so I refused to put my CV next to the installation.
it always destroy something important.
in museum, many people see painter's name and title
and short explanaion before see the picture itself.
that is what I don't like.

I want to make the lighting installation a gift for parisian
who passed the colette window at night.
it was perfect place.
after I finished mounting the light at colette I found a dog
stopping in front of the window looking at my lights.
how fantastic!!'

my philosophy
designers should contemplate the void that surrounds objects,
the space between objects, and relation between those objects.
I believe furniture - chairs, tables, lights etc. -
could be like a constellation of stars, and we could make lines
to connect them three dimentionally and thereby construct
a specific story.
as a designer, I believe it is my task to create those stories.

---
my experience in the design field
'I have exhibited at milan fair, 100% design, ambiente etc.
since 4 years and as a result, I got a lot of offer from
companys asking me to design.

I understand that it is good to accept every offer to make
my name famous especially for a young unknown
designer like me. but I am very stubborn about quality of product
and philosophy of company and I have refused most of them.
but 2 years ago I met managing director of boffi and he liked
my product and I agree with his philosophy and happy with
the quality of their products.
a planar light fixture consisting of a halogen lamp
mounted at the edge of a hole in a sheet of
alucobond (layer of plastic sandwitched
between two layers of aluminium).
the metal surfaces conduct electricity,
lighting the halogen lamp without wires.
when the sheet leans against a wall,
light is emmited between the wall and the sheet,
creating a serene glow.
boffi showed my light at this year's milan fair.
that is my first product produced by company.
it will be on sale soon.
now I am designing a chair and a light.
those will be even more experimental.
they will be exhbited at the milan furniture fair next year (2003).
