what is the best moment of the day?
early in the morning, from 5am on.
what kind of music do you listen to at the moment?
at the moment I listen to classical music but
I am a fan of the terrible italian music of the 1960s.
I am interested in the new musical experiences
but for this I always listen to voices of people working here
in the studio.
do you listen to the radio?
yes, often.
particularly in the morning and when I am driving.
where do you get news from?
I read two italian newspapers 'la repubblica' and 'manifesto'.
what books do you have on your bedside table?
I started a lot of books - I always start them but usually
never really finish them. at moment I am reading a book which
is called 'a homage to the bicycle'.
do you read design / architecture magazines?
a lot of them but I only look at the photos.
do you notice how women are dressing?
do you have any preferences?
I always look at how people are dressing.
for women I like to see a combination of colours.
what kind of clothes do you avoid wearing?
I try to avoid classic, elegant, formal dress, suit, ties . . .
do you have any pets?
I have a cat which is called ‘agata’ but it is more correct
to say that she has me.
when you were a child, did you want to be
an architect / designer?
no.
I wanted to go into the army and then to become a musician.
where do you work on your designs and projects?
I have the best ideas when I am travelling in my car.
do you discuss your work with architects and designers?
yes, a lot.
I like to hear other pople’s opinions but then I always do
what I like.
describe your style, like a good friend of yours would
describe it.
I would like him to say I have a good approach to projects.
please describe an evolution in your work,
from your first projects to the present day.
my projects have the same DNA and they all tell their own
little story. they sutterly propose a new approach to traditional
functions.
which project has given you the most satisfaction?
a big coordination project for COOP (the supermarket brand).
I was able to collaborate with many friends and young
designers. I think this is the most important project I have
worked on.
who would you like to design something for?
I would like to design some musical instruments for
classical and innovative use.
is there any designer and/or architect from the past,
you appreciate?
so many. gino colombini ...
and those still active, are there any particular ones?
luigi colani, enzo mari.
also some collegues at university are very close to me:
gabriele pezzini, ...
any advice for the young?
be silent and listen a lot.
after that then you can ask, talk.
what are you afraid of regarding the future?
I don't have any fear I think that the future will be fantastic
- like the present.
