designboom and 100% design international design competition 100% FOLDING CHAIRS - PROTOTYPES WANTED results ! # 1021 name : tom snow gender : male age : 21 city : dunedin state : new zealand My design for a folding chair was based on the theme of 'rural New Zealand'. I chose an icon of New Zealand farming, the fence post and No.8 wire, both strong symbols of our country and culture. I had to explore the 'boundaries' and capabilities of the materials so as the desired visual effect was achieved as well as its functionality. The prototype is not constructed out of all the materials I intended, due to its miniaturisation and also the availability of materials.
