designboom and 100% design international design competition 100% FOLDING CHAIRS - PROTOTYPES WANTED results ! title: poly folding stool # : 29 name : adrian and jeremy wright gender : male age : 27 city : london state : uk --- Poly is a folding stool intended for a wide range of uses from the home to museums and galleries. Poly is constructed from two pieces of 12mm laminated Polypropylene, machined on a CNC router. In place of moving parts, V-grooves are machined into each piece, leaving a thin section which acts as a "living hinge" allowing the rigid material to fold like scored card. When the stool is opened for use, the living hinges bend causing the V-grooves to close and shut simultaneously.
