designboom and 100% design international design competition 100% FOLDING CHAIRS - PROTOTYPES WANTED results ! title: vela # : 375 name : nicolai pierre fuhrmann gender : male age : 36 city : zürich state : switzerland --- Starting from the idea that a folding chair is not necessarily an improvised emergency solution but contributes to more flexibility even in sophisticated settings, 'vela' makes use of traditional materials as well as high-tech production processes. The new technology of 3D bending allows to produce the main pieces from just one single plywood layer by laser-cut. These are then connected by a tubular stainless steel hinge.
