designboom and 100% design international design competition 100% FOLDING CHAIRS - PROTOTYPES WANTED results ! title: flat chair # : 674 name : stephen procter gender : male age : 31 city : sydney state : australia --- ‘Flat chair’ is a result of distilling and reworking folding chair geometry until it could be folded absolutely flat. It still remains comfortable however- standard ergonomic dimensions and angles have been achieved. A curve has been incorporated in the back to make leaning back more comfortable. Flat chair is extremely economical as follows: Economy of materials- it uses 16mm sheet plywood with nested parts allowing almost no wastage. Economy of processes- it is CNC routed as a flat part from the top side only (requires no side drilling) and requires no further processes, except the attachment of hinges and finishing of the timber.
