the comme des garcons perfume shop
paris, 23, place du marche, st. honore

comme des garcons specializes in anti-fashion,
austere, sometimes deconstructed garments,
perhaps lacking a sleeve or another component.
new york's comme des garcons in chelsea was the
first of her new shops.

'my shops', says rei kawakubo, 'are conceived of for
people who get energy from wearing these clothes,
who like taking risks'.
'playful formalism' was how kawakubo described
her new small, simple, clean comme des garcons
perfume shop in paris.
the interior features a gently curving, white, steel
shelf that holds the five perfumes for sale.

while kawakubo and takao kawasaki designed
the interiors, future systems architects was enlisted
for the shop exterior. jan kaplicky and amanda work
from offices in central london.
elements of the paris interior are reminiscent
of her latest shops in tokyo and new york,
also designed by the same consultants.
future systems created a glass veil that
moves from translucency to transparency,
through the use of a pink-graded film
between two layers of laminated glass,
laid over the stone facade.
