designer's own words:

Bamboo is a well established, common used material in Chinese society. It is used to produce various kinds of product, such as furniture, home accessories and utensils. It can also be used as the framework of a building during a construction process. Bamboo is a very fast growing plant. It is hard, durable, and has high flexibility at the same time. The treatments required during production are relatively very simple. It will also be decomposed in nature when it becomes waste since it is a very natural material. Beam uses bamboo in the most original form, reducing the process of production. Fluorescent light tube together with the transformer are simply installed on the concave in-layer of bamboo. When it is plugged, it becomes a lamp which creates a very special mood as it stands on floor. It can also be hung up and becomes normal room lighting. Components: Bamboo (6 feet, r150mm) Fluorescent light tube Transformer, electric wire and plug
